About Me

Yvette Guo is a classical guitarist known for her intense and granitic style. She has a passion for bringing the transformative but niche medium of classical music to diverse and unfamiliar audiences as an expression of solidarity.

A dedicated activist, Yvette's work goes beyond the stage; she has performed in healthcare facilities and queer activist spaces.Her performances and lessons are not only a display of probing musicality but also a powerful expression of the will of the human spirit.

As a teacher, she has taught ensemble classes at Greendale Primary School, Yishun Junior College and Raffles Institution in Singapore. She has also coached individual students for exams and performances; she has also taught students of varying musical genres and backgrounds to find solidarity and empathy in the guitar and the wider musical world.

Yvette is a regular competitor in international guitar competitions and as a student, the first guitarist from Singapore at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, where she attained her Bachelor of Music in Guitar (BMus). She is currently one of two Masters of Music in Guitar (MMus) students at the University

Yvette attends St Andrew's Wesley Church, a United Church of Canada Congregation. In her free time, she enjoys swimming and zine making.
